Cape Town : World Design Capital 2014

In march Urban Fair visited World Design Capital 2014 : Cape Town to photograph the global talent exchange and design project: STUB 001. We travel a lot for our trend research, but never made a city so much impact as Cape Town did. The contrasted reality, the creative energy, the friendly people, beautiful nature, good food, the raw edges and the huge gap between the rich and the poor.

Because of the WDC2014 the total city was infected by design. Under the concept “Live Design | Transform Life”  four different themes have been created to illustrate how local creativity can transform the city, reconcile their communities and provide it and provide it with a sustainable, productive and vibrant future!

STUB, a project in collaboration with the Ubuntu Academy Cape Town is part of the official program of WDC2014 under the theme Bridging the Divide: #WDC304.

Of cource we visited The Design Indaba. At first the design expo seemed to be more a handicraft fair than a design fair. But walking around we discovered a lot of creative and innovative designs! AFRICA NOW showcased smart design solutions which uplift the african culture and let you rediscover the rich african cultural heritage. Design to improve life!
